I live in Tasmania the island state of Australia. I am on a low income and live simply on a budget, with two dogs on an acre in a beautiful rural location.
I enjoy photography and enjoy the times when the Southern Aurora or Aurora Australis visits.
I like gardening, and growing vegetables, fruit, hazlenuts, and flowers. I provide habitat for native animals and birds insects and am slowly restoring some mircosystems to health again.
I am not a brilliantly successful veggie grower but aim to improve each year.
I have Complex PTSD and can no longer work after a breakdown several years ago. As I grow stronger and become who I want to be. Letting go of all others have expected or desired of me.
I love dogs, and of course Echidnas, photography nature and living in the beautiful place. I am a very fortunate person. I also have Chooks, including a Rooster who goes by the name of Roopert, his six gals and recently the flock increased by 9 chicks.
Wallabies, potaroos, possums brush tail and ring tail, micro bats, blue tongue lizard, at least one tiger snake, bandicoots, Tasmanian Devils all visit my little acre, along with Kookaburras, Cockatoos and so many other birds. I have bumble bees, honey bees, and native bees in my garden, along with frogs. Geckos, and all sorts of other insects and wildlife. I have worm bins and am also breeding meal worms for my chooks.
I write about my life, and how living with my mental illness has bought about change for me. I am not sure if I am homesteading, I am really just living my life, doing what I enjoy. I share all sorts of things, and the beauty of where I live. I look forward to meeting you. Tazzie.

They look so delicious!! Wauw!!! I went grocery shopping yesterday and now I realize why I was looking for peaches (there were none), it’s because I’ve seen them on your blog 😀
I hope they taste very good but I’m sure they will. I’ll have to wait for the right season here to enjoy them too.

The peaches are sublime. Sorry I feel I should say they are Yukky but I dont lie, so sorry. Juicy and flavoursome. It is kind of mean to be showing them off when so many of you are in depths of winter. Yet it will all work out as you will be having them and I will be wishing for them.

They look sublime and I’m glad they taste sublime too! Off course you can show them off, it makes me happy to see them. And I’m happy for you that they are so good. It’s nice to share the happiness!
Every season is needed, after winter comes spring and then summer. It’s like life a little bit 😉

Oh the joy of picking your own fresh fruit. In the past, I’ve picked our olives, lemons, grapes, oranges and figs in both Croatia and Spain. I also picked tomatoes, dates and watermelons when I was on a Kibbutz many years ago. How I envy you – now I live in a one-bedroom flat.

Wow to be able to travel but I know picking is hard work. I have picked cherries and blueberries to help friends out. How do you pick dates? Watermelons would be heavy and back breaking I would think. Such interesting experiences. Hard work but I imagine there was a lot of fun. I hope your home is near some parks and I am certain you have made it special for you.

What a lovely crop. Do you preserve them in any way or just share them around?

I will freeze a lot for winter and I may try and dehydrate some. I am laughing at this, thought it is going to be messy yet It may happen.

I’ve recently thought about getting a dehydrator (but don’t know where I’d store it in this tiny studio style apartment). Reason being that from time to time, my brother brings me masses of fruit/veg from his hobby farm and I never seem to be able to eat it all despite having a newish large fridge/freezer. Do you have a dehydrator or use you oven or something else?

I have a dehydrator I have used it a fair bit, but I also have just used my oven on low and dried some fruit in the sun on my roof, iron, with tulle over it to stop the bugs getting in it and the birds stealing it. If I get it out I have to bring it in as the possums will eat it .lol Perhaps you could borrow one or hire one.
